Frequently asked questions
We understand you. Before you hire someone to write for you, there are many questions. Many more than just the per-word rate.
How much research goes into it?
Can the writer match the intended voice?
What happens if the first draft isn’t palatable?
And the big one: Was any of it generated with AI?
So, here are some questions that clients often have about our service. Hopefully, they will answer your queries and clear any doubts. If not, you’re always free to get in touch with us using our contact form.
About ArticleWriter
ArticleWriter is a collective of professional writers and editors who specialize in writing well-researched, genuinely enjoyable articles. We’ve spent years working as writers, ghostwriters, editors, researchers, copywriters, and content specialists across all sorts of industries. ArticleWriter brings that experience together under one roof. Our approach is simple: understand the subject first, then write.
Articles are our specialty, but we’re not article-only. We can also work on blog posts, webpages, landing pages, news stories, reviews, technical documentation, copywriting, editing, proofreading, research-heavy content, and other written projects. If words are involved, there’s a pretty good chance someone on our team has worked on something similar before.
It’s always a human writer. We assign projects to professional writers from our collective based on the subject, requirements, writing style, and complexity involved. Editors may also review the work where a project calls for another pair of eyes. Your article isn’t generated by a machine and handed to somebody for a quick cleanup.
Yes. Give us existing articles, a style guide, brand documentation, examples you love, examples you hate, or even notes explaining how you want to sound. If we’re ghostwriting for an individual, it also helps to have material they’ve written or spoken themselves. The goal isn’t to imitate a few favorite phrases. It’s to understand how that person explains things, argues a point, uses humor, communicates expertise, and speaks to their audience.
Yes, provided we can properly research and understand them. We don’t expect every writer to walk into an assignment already knowing everything about cloud infrastructure, insurance regulation, industrial machinery, cryptocurrency, cat nutrition, or whatever landed in the inbox that morning. Research is the most important part of our job. For specialist projects, we may also work with materials you provide, including internal documentation, data, expert commentary, brand information, reference material, and other sources.
Ordering content
You can submit your requirements through our Place an Order page or contact us directly if you’d rather discuss the project first. Tell us as much as you already know: topic, approximate word count, purpose, audience, deadline, style, references, keywords, examples, and anything else that might affect the assignment. Don’t have a perfect brief? That’s fine too. We’ve seen briefs ranging from multi-page documents to three sentences and a URL.
That’s kind of our bread and butter. For larger orders, we’ll look at the total volume, subject matter, research involved, deadlines, and how much consistency is required across the project before agreeing on a workflow. We always plan a realistic production schedule. We won’t just randomly promise 100 fantastic articles by Friday.
Turnaround depends on the size and difficulty of the order. We don’t advertise absurdly fast delivery times because research, writing, editing, and quality control take time. A simple article and a twenty-article technical project obviously shouldn’t have the same turnaround. If you have a hard publication date or business deadline, tell us before the project begins so we can confirm whether we can meet it.
Yep! You don’t need to commit to a monthly package or a giant content calendar just to work with us. We can handle a single article, a small batch, or an ongoing volume requirement.
It depends on the assignment. Word count matters, but it isn’t the only thing that determines the work involved. A straightforward 1,500-word article can sometimes take less time than a heavily researched 700-word technical piece. Research requirements, subject complexity, volume, turnaround time, editing, source requirements, and the scope of the brief can all affect pricing. Send us the project details, and we’ll quote according to the actual work involved.
Please do! Client-supplied material can be extremely valuable, particularly when we’re writing about your company, product, proprietary data, industry experience, or an expert’s personal views. You can provide briefs, documents, reference URLs, style guides, keywords, internal information, examples, statistics, and other relevant materials. We still do our own research where needed. Your material gives us something even more useful: context that may not exist publicly.
Our writing process
As much as the article reasonably needs. Sometimes that means understanding a straightforward subject and verifying a handful of facts. Other assignments require studying industry terminology, reading original sources, comparing competing claims, checking current information, and understanding the client’s business before a single paragraph gets written. We don’t use research as decoration. The point is to understand the topic well enough.
No, and nobody we know does. Nobody can responsibly guarantee that one article will achieve a particular Google position, traffic number, conversion rate, or commercial result. We can produce well-researched, useful, carefully written content and follow the SEO requirements of your project. What happens after publication also depends on the website, competition, backlinks, technical SEO, authority, search demand, algorithm changes, and plenty of other factors outside the article itself.
Research and factual accuracy are important parts of our process, particularly for topics where incorrect information can cause real problems. That said, clients should still review material before publication, especially where an article contains legal, medical, financial, regulatory, pricing, product, or other time-sensitive information. We’re professional writers and researchers. We don’t pretend that automatically makes us your lawyer, doctor, accountant, or compliance department.
Yes, where SEO is part of the assignment. We can work with target keywords, search intent, headings, internal-linking requirements, competitor research, content briefs, and other SEO instructions. But we don’t believe keywords excuse bad writing. The finished article still needs to make sense to an actual reader. Search engines may bring somebody to the page. The words have to convince them to stay.
AI & originality
No. We don’t use generative AI text-generation tools to produce client content. Research, writing, and editing are handled by human writers and editors. That’s not an optional premium add-on or a checkbox you need to select when ordering. It’s how ArticleWriter works. You can read the full explanation on our No AI Use Policy page.
Yes, we can provide AI detector results when requested, and we may also use detectors during internal quality checks. But AI detectors are not reliable proof of authorship. Human-written text can be flagged as AI-generated, different detectors can produce different scores for the exact same paragraph, and those scores can change when the detection systems themselves are updated. We’re happy to run the checks, though. Sometimes, we run premium detector checks using our own money. Let us know your exact requirements.
Yes. We write content specifically for the project rather than spinning, scraping, or lightly rewriting somebody else’s article. Research obviously involves reading existing information. That’s how research works. The writing, organization, explanations, conclusions, and presentation are created for your assignment.
Not as part of our normal writing process. We don’t generate an article with AI and then run it through another tool, swap a few words around, and call the result handcrafted. That’s still utter slop. If you’re hiring us for human writing, that’s what you’re getting.
No, and we don’t believe anyone writing genuinely human content should make that guarantee. What we guarantee is how the article is produced: we don’t use generative AI to write it. What we cannot guarantee is how every third-party AI detector will classify that writing afterward.
Revisions & delivery
Yes. If something in the delivered work doesn’t properly follow the agreed brief, let us know. We’ll review the feedback and make appropriate revisions. We only ask that revisions remain connected to the original assignment. Changing the entire topic, audience, purpose, length, or direction after delivery can turn a revision into a new piece of work.
Unless different terms have been agreed for your particular project, your transferable rights in the final written deliverable pass to you once full payment for that project has been received. Our internal notes, unused ideas, research notes, workflows, templates, and other working materials aren’t automatically included with the final deliverable.

Tell us why. Specific feedback helps enormously. Maybe the tone feels wrong. Perhaps we’ve misunderstood the audience, given too much space to one section, missed an important point, or interpreted part of the brief differently than you intended. We’ll look at the issue rather than getting precious about the prose. Writers who cannot survive an editor deleting their favorite sentence don’t last very long in professional writing.
Yes. Normal revisions that bring the work closer to the originally agreed brief are part of our revision process. If the request substantially changes what we’re being asked to create, we’ll tell you before treating it as additional work. We don’t appreciate discovering that a “tiny change” meant rewriting 80% of the article. Neither do you like getting a mysterious extra invoice. Proper communication from both ends makes for a win-win situation.
Getting started with ArticleWriter
Yes. Our blog contains writing from members of the collective, including articles about the craft itself, client experiences, research, editing, SEO, AI, ghostwriting, and the strange realities of doing this professionally. But we know reading something written for somebody else only tells you so much. That’s why we also offer custom samples.
Whatever you already have. As we said before, some briefs have multiple detailed documents, while others have three lines of text and a URL. The real question is what do we prefer. Well, we prefer for you to provide us as many of these as possible:
- The topic or content requirement
- Approximate word count
- Target audience
- Purpose of the article
- Preferred tone or style
- Deadline
- Target keywords, if applicable
- Competitors or reference pages
- Sources you want us to use
- Brand or editorial guidelines
- Examples of writing you like
- Any facts, opinions, products, data, or messages that absolutely need to appear
And if half of that doesn’t exist yet, don’t worry. Send us what you have. We can figure out the writing part together.
Yes. Our current custom sample offer is 400 to 500 words, written specifically to demonstrate how we’d approach your requirement. There are no strings attached. If you like the sample, we can discuss working together. If you don’t, you’re not committed to ordering anything. Check this page to claim your free sample.
There are writing projects that fit neatly into an order form, and then there are projects that require three emails, two documents, a spreadsheet, an explanation of an oddly specific industry, and the sentence, “Bear with me, this will make sense in a minute.” We know those projects too. Get in touch, tell us what you’re trying to create, and we’ll let you know how we can help.
When human writing is a must, there’s only one name you can trust!
Let us write an article (or anything else) for you. Authored by professional writers, our work prioritizes true human expertise (that’s why we spend a significant amount of time in the research phase), authenticity, authoritativeness, and excellent writing that people love to read.
